Supermodel Joan Smalls shows off the inside of her stunning Miami apartment – as she reveals Moschino designer Jeremy Scott helped influence the luxe design, following some of the best 2019 trends!
Joan Smalls lives a luxury lifestyle life with very eclectic features, so it only makes sense that she would want her home in Miami to have the feel of a luxury hotel — an airy space where she can host dinner parties for her model friends.
The 31-year-old Puerto Rican beauty shows off her stunning new vacation home in the September issue of Elle Decor, revealing the idea to follow the 2019 trends of sleek decor, was inspired by a conversation she had with fashion designer Jeremy Scott, who is known for creating campy clothes for both Moschino and his eponymous label.
‘I asked him, “Is your place decorated in the same style?”‘ she recalled. ‘And he said, “Absolutely not. It’s extremely white and clean.” You wouldn’t expect it from him, but I can understand why. He wants that contrast between what you do and how you live, which I love.’
When Joan purchased her two-bedroom home in Miami’s downtown Brickell neighbourhood in January, she turned to RH, Restoration Hardware’s Interior Design to renovate her luxury apartment.
The model’s New York apartment is also filled the company’s exquisite furniture, so she felt right at home combing RH’s website while looking for inspiration in 2019 trends. Joan opted for a palette of greys and whites as well as touches of black and green to complement her tropical surroundings and bring a bit of summer flair to the home.
‘A lot of the time, my eye is drawn to more masculine shapes in furniture and not soft and delicate ones,’ she said. ‘The colours balance it all out.’
The apartment also features designs by Milo Baughman, Jonathan Browning, and Kelly Hoppen that perfectly co-exist with her luxury furniture from RH and follow the 2019 trends of sleek and clean design.
Her sleek living room features a warm white couch, a rectangular wood coffee table that sits low to the floor, and a large potted palm tree.
The entranceway is just as breathtaking, with the foyer featuring an abstract painting by Koen Lybaert that sits above a stainless steel glass console from RH.
Meanwhile, the apartment’s master bedroom is decorated with various shades of grey and black, including a light grey headboard and patterned rug. Also in the bedroom is a gorgeous chandelier hanging over the bed which Joan claims is her favourite piece out of the entire luxury design.
