The interior designer Lucinda Loya was the name chosen to create a Contemporary Home with a curated selection of design pieces and rich materials to highlight the art.
Designer Lucinda Loya ensured that every room in this red-brick house had at least a dash of black (and white). Houston-based interior designer Lucinda Loya believes that once you’re aware, you’ll notice the ubiquity of uniformity. “You’ll start to see that a lot of projects lack contrast,” the decorator insists.
“So I always put some black and some white in every room to provide a visual point of reference—from no color to absolute color. I call it the ‘equilibrium of interiors.”
“When you walk into the house, you see the dining room and the living room, so they needed to talk to one another,” says Lucinda Loya. She added a mirror to the wet bar to make the room appear more spacious.
The main bedroom doubles as a hangout for the grown-ups of the contemporary home, so it’s generous enough to hold a bedside fireplace plus a sitting area with a television. The geometric wallpaper provides the black-and-white anchor that has become Lucinda Loya’s signature.

The pitched ceiling washes the bathroom in gorgeous southern light, which bounces off the white Neolith sintered stone seen on nearly every surface. A pass-through fireplace adds a spa-like touch. All the fixtures are polished nickel; the acrylic light fixture was custom-designed by Lucinda Loya.
